Every episode kicks off with Hot Topic — a spontaneous conversation starter pulled straight from our mystery box of notes. Each week, the team adds fresh, thought-provoking, funny, or controversial topics to the mix, meaning no two episodes ever start the same. Breaking the Stigma:

Broadcast live from the Making a Statement podcast studio, this flagship segment is all about real conversations with real people. We tackle the uncomfortable, the misunderstood, and the conversations society often avoids — from mental health and addiction, to identity, trauma, and everything in between. Viewers are able to ask questions in real time, making this an open forum for connection and growth.

21 Questions:

A test of knowledge, nerves, and a bit of luck. In this segment, each of our podcast hosts takes on 21 general knowledge questions across a wide range of topics. The questions are split into three categories, each with escalating difficulty and point values. It’s competitive, it’s chaotic and the stakes are high, as the lowest scorer at the end faces a consequence.

Heat Seat:

The Heat Seat, where things get hot, fast. In this fiery challenge, hosts go head-to-head by consuming seriously spicy food and battling it out to see who can last the longest without taking a drink. The intensity builds with every bite as the team aim to refrain from downing their drinks. The first to take a sip will be crowned the loser and will face a consequence.

Mystery Munch:

Not for the faint-hearted. In this segment, each podcast host must face the Mystery Munch: a surprise item from the “menu” that could be anything from edible insects to bizarre or questionable meat dishes. There's no hints and no backing out, just reactions, regret, and maybe a few gags. If a host refuses or fails to finish, they’ll be hit with a consequence.

Behind the Bars:

Get closer to the artist and gain a deeper understanding to the thought process Behind the Bars. An introspective segment where we pull the curtains back on our songwriting process, creative choices, and the personal stories that you hear in our music. We break down the bars line by line, giving fans an inside look at what inspired the lyrics to their favourite tracks, the emotions behind each verse, and the deeper meanings that might not be obvious at first listen. It’s all about connecting on a personal level, artist to audience.

Play by Ear:

In this segment, the crew comes together to react in real time to a mix of music from rising local NZ talent to global heavyweights and legendary influences who’ve shaped our sound. Whether it’s a new release or a classic cut, we give our raw, honest takes on everything from lyrics and flow to production, engineering, and vocal delivery. With a panel made up of artists, lyricists, and music minds from different backgrounds, you’ll get a range of perspectives and breakdowns that go beyond surface-level as each host brings a unique lens to the table.
